This is the format for news updates for Members of Pheasant Glen Golf Club; note the term Club, not Resort. The Members are Members of Pheasant Glen Golf Club, while the public business enterprise will be known as Pheasant Glen Golf Resort. This will differentiate Members from guests.

This update will be printed off and available for pick up in the Golf Shop for those Members who are not on line. There will be a Members page on the web site where information in greater detail will be available. The web site will be up shortly and will be added to as time goes by.

Not only are they the final three holes of the golf course, but they are final three holes of a four year construction program. I would like to thank all Members for their patience and understanding over that period of time. It is much like renovating your house…..it is exciting to start, then you think it will never end, then you forget what the old house looked like, and then finally it does end and you really begin enjoying the fruits of the labor…..and then you forget what you went through and realize that really, it wasn't all that bad, and it really was worth it!

I believe that Pheasant Glen Golf Resort will be known for the best three finishing holes on the Island. Golf Course Superintendent Jay Barner and his Team have done an outstanding job in creating some very fine golf holes that I hope you will enjoy playing for many years to come. When you consider that essentially one man (Jay Barner) and one big machine (his excavator) and one little machine (his little bulldozer), together with an incredible talent to both envision what needed to be done and the skills with which to do it, is largely responsible for the golf course that you will now enjoy. Jay was supported by a Team of people, lead by Kelly Jacobson, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, and the Course Maintenance Team that slugged through awful weather (much of the time) and willingly performed the tasks required to finish off the new holes. They should all be incredibly proud of their accomplishments!

I would like to, on behalf of all the Team here at Pheasant Glen, thank the Dutton Family for their faith in us and their financial commitment to see this project through. It ended up being a bigger, more costly project than was first contemplated, and certainly caused stress levels to rise to new highs. It was the typical renovation project in that we had to overcome the unexpected on many occasions. At the same time we saw many opportunities to enhance the golf course as we progressed and without that Ownership commitment and belief, this would still be an ordinary golf course. Now it will be an exceptional golf course!

It is very rare that those of us in the operational side of this business get the opportunity to really create something special. We have all been able to participate in doing that here, and we can all step back and gaze over Pheasant Glen Golf Resort with pride. I hope that you will be able to do the same, knowing that you are a Member of a very special place!

The final three will be open sometime in the first half of April. The weather certainly hasn't helped, given all the snow in January and frost in February. However we should still be good to go in early April.

Scores may not be recorded for handicap purposes until the new holes are open because the course has been rated including the new holes, and there will be some temporary holes between now and then. The course ratings have been done for both men and women from all fours sets of tees.

Online tee time bookings will go into effect April 1st at 7:00 AM. Please note the new time. Tee times bookings will now be available ½ hour before the first tee time of the day. April 1st the tee times will start at 7:30 AM. May 1st they will move to 7 AM and the tee times will be available at 6:30 AM.

The other change will be that Members will be able to book 14 days in advance effective April 1st. It will be more important than ever, as the demand for tee times increases, that Members cancel tee times that are not going to be used, and notify the Golf Shop, or modify on line, the names of the players in the group, or any changes to the number of players in the booking.

Tee times may be booked on line by going to the Pheasant Glen website, or by telephoning the Golf Shop. Neither method will have an advantage over the other, thereby ensuring equity for all Members, whether they are on line or not.

For the month of March we have a demo site where our Team Members can lead you through the process so that on April 1st everyone will have it mastered. The handicap workstation will be available for these demos and any of the Restaurant Servers or Golf Operations Team can show you how it works.
